This project was completed at Monash University in Prato, Italy, as part of the Interior Architecture study program.
‘Senescence’ refers to the process of deterioration with age. The wearable depicts an intersect between the decaying nature of architecture and the aging of the body through an outer and inner skin. The outer layer reflects the aging of the body through creases and folds that are stitched to the suit and attached to the window. The performance unfolds through choreography and movement – the material gathers as the performer shifts away from the window to slowly unveil the new under layer.
The framed window creates a controlled perspective where the body’s connection with space becomes central, highlighting the importance of spatial practice as a platform to explore the limits of the human body.
